Abstract
The correctional education classroom is typically a setting with a lot of challenges not usually seen in typical K-12 schools. The need for literacy education in the correctional setting is at an all-time high. Students are coming into correctional institutions with reading levels sometimes two or more grade levels behind their non-incarcerated peers. Educators in correctional settings have the ability to assess and provide exceptional education to these students in the time that they are present. This means there needs to be appropriate assessment to select the instruction or intervention that would be best for the student. This thesis looks into previously implemented interventions to assess their effectiveness within the unique setting of the correctional classroom.
