Abstract
Epidural analgesia has an impact on duration of labor, type of delivery and the neonate. Good research data supports epidural analgesia shorts first stage of labor, lengthens second stage, increases instrumental delivery but no increased risk for cesarean delivery. Epidural analgesia has no effect on neonatal Apgar scores but decreases initiating and duration of breastfeeding.
