Abstract
This video presentation features original poems created by participants in Dr. Claudia May's three-week virtual writing workshop that gave pregnant women of color from Minnesota the space to share their stories and speak their truth about their experiences. Dr. May also shares some poems from her recent work, Birthing Butterflies, which is a collection of poetic interpretations of nineteenth century enslaved black women's experiences of motherhood. Artist poets featured in this presentation: Anika Livingston-Browdy, Glenda Tejada, Gigi Brown, Ramya Oruganti, Andria Fagge'Tt, Kiara White.
